When you browse around many magazines in bookstore you can not help but fascinated by the look of those fashion models on the cover. Those beautiful models are the subject of high fashion photography. Models job are to showing off latest style of certain products usually fashionable dresses or wedding gowns, shoes, bags even swimwear. These products are designers work, and those designers are depending on the work of high fashion photographer to bring their design come to live through camera.
If you have time to study this type of photography, you will notice that almost every photos taken on the subject looks beautiful. This leads you to be aware of several important points in high fashion photography.
Pose. As a fashion photographer you should be able to direct models on how to pose and beautify the photo. Most models are pretty. But that did not guarantee the outcome of the shot taken will be splendid. Photographer need to direct them and decide what best composition, angle and pose to take. Take note that high fashion photographer need to be creative and at ease in working with models. You need to be relaxed, have confident in doing your job although this line of work can be stressful sometimes..
Advertise. The main reason for the existence of high fashion photography is to help designer sell their product. Models are used to promote the latest brand of product in order to entice people in wearing it and make these design a trendsetter in their market class. You need to create photos that advertise the designer fashionable work in stylish and classy way.
Competition. Despite the glamorous and exciting life style, you must notice that this line of work is very competitive and highly challenging. Lot of criticisms and demands to create original and artistic photos will always be part of your job. Photographer need to create an impact in photography by inventing unusual and different image.
Keep up to date. Choosing the right camera and accessories, themes, what props and photography backdrops to use are parts of your job as fashion photographer. Keep learning to improve your skill, and keep up to date with fashion world. Learn what are the latest trends in fashion as well as the latest development in photography.
If your goal is to become a high fashion photography, try to give more attention in fashion and modeling. Learn through many fashion magazines or you can search online on this subject. Strengthen your portfolio by taking pictures in high fashion style. Study to captured different aspects of your model figure. Not only the full figure but you also got to learn focusing on single objects. Practice capturing light and color in perfect composition with a camera. Be creative and try to create unique portrait. Keep learning and hope for the best!
