Wedding photography prices vary widely from one photographer to another. There are no fixed price for a wedding photography package as they vary depending on several factors.
One factor to consider is photographer’s skill and experience. This is because skill and experience gained through their year as photographer influence greatly on the quality of their work. Also they have the advantage of mouth publicity for their reputation that they have gained over a period of years as photographer. So naturally highly skill photographer tends to cost more. But it is not necessarily mean that a lower price one will give poor quality work. References and portfolio can help promote novice photographer.
Another factor is region. Different region has a different price. Usually photographer in metro areas charges a higher price than their fellow photographer in rural area. Basically the reason for this is because living cost in metro area tend to be higher than in rural area. Another reason is because rural area offer less customer than in city area. This low volume of client makes photographer tend to lower their prices for getting a constant flow of income.
Wedding almost always takes time on a Saturday. So photographer only have a wedding job once in a week. And the peak season for celebrating a wedding is usually during spring time. For many area, winter months is most unpopular time to hold a wedding. These favorable day and season of a year to have a wedding, influence greatly on wedding photography prices. It is almost natural if spring is the busiest months for a photographer. And the high workload during this time of year makes wedding photographer prices tends to rise. Photographer charge more because there is an increasing demand for their work and because they have to protect their business by having enough income to support them during the less busy months of the year.
The invention of digital camera, contribute greatly on the sudden rise in number of professional photographer. Highly advanced digital camera make these amateur photographer produce quality photos that resembles one of a professional.
Digital camera help photographer reduce cost. With the lack of film, processing cost and less investment on photography equipment such as photography backdrops, they can offer an affordable wedding photography prices for their customer. So preference to use digital or film photo can greatly impact the cost of a wedding photographer.
The other factor that should be considered is the amount of time booked by the client. The longer the time booked the higher the weeding photography prices will be. Usually people need photographer mostly to take photos during their wedding ceremony. These jobs includes portraits of the couple, the family and group photograph. But sometimes these jobs also include pre- ceremony event such as times when the bride comes, bridal preparations and the arrival of the groom and his family and friends and then the ceremony itself. And the prices will go even higher if it includes reception, first dance of the couple and all the details in wedding.
These are some factor that might contribute on wedding photography prices. But the truth is all the moment taken by a photographer during a couple once in a lifetime ceremony is priceless.
